My NYC Dream: A Journey Through the 90s

I moved to NYC in the 90’s when I was 21. Spending my 20’s in the city was a dream. The people, the venues, restaurants, record stores, and shops were incredible. I would often stare up at the skyline and know how lucky I was. I never once took it for granted. I would often see bands in other cities, ie Philly, Boston, Hoboken… and every time we drove back to NY at night and see the view of the city lights, I would get so excited. Wow, I live here! Those years were the best of my life, my school of life. Culture, diversity, and liberal minds were what I’d longed for after growing up in ultra conservative SW Michigan. Not to mention the music. I lived for music, often seeing multiple bands per week. From Slowdive to Pulp to Radiohead… at CBGB, Irving Plaza, Radio City Music Hall, etc.
